ACCOUNTABILITY

Funds donated to Fields of Life are used for the programme designated by the donor, sponsor or supporter.  Specific information on the purpose and usage of the funds is provided to our supporters directly.  This accountability has direct results: child sponsors are provided with details of the child they sponsor (picture, letters, and a history of the child's family).  School construction and Wells of Life supporters are given pictures and periodic status reports of the schools and wells after they have been successfully completed.

This approach to funds allocation is preferred by many of our supports as they have tangible evidence of where their money is being spent.  How is Fields of Life then able to function as an organisation?  Fortunately, we are blessed with donors who have provided for our office space and supplies, and therefore have little to no overheads in that respect.  In fact, last year we were fortunate to have only two (2) percent administration costs.  By the end of this year, this will increase to five (5) percent, but in comparison to other non-profit organisation, we are confident that we are operating in a cost-effective fashion.  We consider this funding allocation policy a commitment to not only utilising donated funds in accordance with our supporter's wishes, but in keeping with channelling the funds to the East Africa, where it is vitally needed.
