LIZ%27S+STORY

I met up with Godfrey last Friday morning and had a really amazing experience meeting with the child Kahuma and his family. I really appreciate all the time that was put into the visit and although sponsors may not often visit, it all seemed to go very smoothly from my perspective!

In early February, Liz (a child sponsor since last year) visited her sponsored child, Kahuma, in Treasured Kids Primary School.  The school is located in a suburb of Kampala, Uganda. The community where the school is located is called Kosovo because previously there had been a great deal of fighting in the area. (Consequently, the situation was compared to that of Kosovo in what was formerly Yugoslavia). The nickname has remained for the area, even though the situation there has settled considerably.

Liz scheduled her visit as part of a nine-month trip through Africa. She was particularly keen to visit the school Kahuma attended and to be able to tour the facilities.  After leaving Kampala, she continued her trip onward to Mityana. Fields of Life sponsors who visit find the experience particularly memorable.  Here are more of Liz's comments regarding her visit:

"I got the chance to meet with the Pastor Isaac, and he gave me a thorough tour of the school including a visit to Kahuma's classroom, the school kitchen, all the different offices and introduced me to everyone. It was really a terrific welcome! We also popped up to the nursery school and met with Kahuma's sister, Winifred, which is pictured above. The highlight of the tour was certainly the visit to his family in their home.  I met with his parents and siblings. His dad was overcome with emotion and it was quite a humbling experience to be there. Godfrey was very helpful so special thanks there!  He gave generously of his time.  It was interesting collecting the post with him, and seeing exactly where the parcels, etc., arrive!"

Liz was made to feel very welcome by the community.
