Loans of Life believes that by equipping poor and vulnerable women and children with the tools to help themselves, they can begin to lift themselves out of poverty. This is why we are supporting women.
The women involved are widows and some married women facing hardships in their families living in severe poverty, facing hardship every day of their lives. They formed an association to find solutions to their challenges affecting them. They also offer each other support and advice.
To achieve their goals they have resorted to working so hard to see that they can come out of the poverty cycle to educate their families and become independent, strong women –this means becoming economically self-sufficient. So, on January 17th 2010, ten women started a small business, a whole sell shop that sells items used in the day to day life.
With the help of Fields of Life the 10 women came up with a plan, elected a committee to oversee the running of the business.
In just four months Kiti P.S. Women’s Association has been able to make profits over Sh 270,000 (£84) profit – a huge total by local standards, and an enormous achievement.
We have supported Kiti Women's Association by giving them Sh 5,000,000 (£160) which has assisted them to start their whole sell business. However, the women in Uganda still need our help to make the Loans of Life projects spread further in the neighbouring districts of Uganda. Thank you so much for supporting these woman and their business.
