Fields of Life seeks to partner with local community associations by initiating Loans of Life projects. Through the provision of seed funding we hope to empower communities to stimulate enterprise and develop local economies by making available short-term loans. These loans enable people, who would otherwise have no access to credit, to borrow money on affordable terms therefore giving them the opportunity to start up and develop businesses. People in East Africa have an entrepreneurial spirit which is often overlooked however we believe that by unlocking this spirit through the Loans of Life programme, local communities can be transformed.
"My name is Yekosofat Sekanyo and I am 40 years old. Before this scheme I could not afford to look after my family. I could not afford to buy the basic things like clothes, soap, sugar and paraffin. It was hard to look after my family of 5 children and my wife. But after getting the association money worth SH 200,000, I rear layers and I sell eggs worth SH 12,000 a day. I can take my 5 children to Source of Light School and I can now buy the basic items for my family." - Yekosofat Sekanyo
"My name is Kakembo Vincent and I am 30 years old. Before I was given the micro finance money life was not good at all, as my children were suffering. I could not buy them sugar, milk and give them the necessities of life. I thank God for the micro finance project because now I can do what I could not do before. I am happy that I got 230,000 Ugandan shillings and it has helped me to do the brick laying business. I am doing well and I am very happy." - Kakembo Vincent
"My name is Mrs. Mugabi Rebecca. I thank God very much for the great work he is doing. I started very small in the sewing business - I didn't know that it would merge to this height! I and my husband have over 10 children to look after - it was not very easy to take care of them. I am one of the beneficiaries in the micro finance project and I managed to get SH 200,000 from the association. I could buy a few metres of cloth to make school uniforms but now I can buy in large quantities and produce quite good numbers of school uniforms. My target is to supply to many schools - the future is bright." - Mugabi Rebecca
