PRAYER+DIARY

“A true prayer is an inventory of needs, a catalog of necessities, an exposure of secret wounds, a revelation of hidden poverty." - C. H. Spurgeon

Prayer is the most important thing you can do for us! You may not be able to visit the countries in person, but through prayer, you can still effect change. How does it work?  Every two weeks, this page features a theme for prayer, and provides a sentence or two of a specific prayer request.  You may use this for personal prayer, or maybe even to take with you to your church or prayer group. Simply review the prayer request, give it some thought, contact us (info@fieldsoflife.com) if you wish to comment or need clarification, and then pray.  It’s that easy!

If you have comments on any aspect of this Prayer Diary, please feel free to Contact Us.

Pray for the Future of Africa

Monday and Tuesday
According to Frontline Fellowship, "Since 1960, 85 violent changes of government have occurred with over 30 national leaders being assassinated or executed. Currently there are 42 dictatorships and 14 wars raging." Please pray for peace, prosperity and human kindness in all the war-torn areas throughout Africa. As it says in Galatians 5:22: ". . . the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Let the seeds of such fruits be sown throughout the hearts and minds of the people, and let this fruit become the sustenance that is responsible for the growth and development of its children.

Wednesday and Thursday
There are missionaries and care workers who tirelessly strive to make a difference to the lives of many Africans. Please pray for their continued commitment to the work and for God's blessings on their selflessness. Pray for the continued strength of character and endurance that is often required to face the many challenges and physical hardships of working under harsh and, at many times, insecure circumstances. May the love and appreciation shown by the beneficiaries of their work nurture their spirits and their resolve.

Friday and Saturday
There are many natural, political and economic disasters which continue to create instability in Africa. Through it all, the resilience and fortitude of the African people is inspiring and incredible to watch. Please pray for all the African families who struggle with the daily challenges of deprivation and hardship. Pray that their continued efforts for survival and self-sustenance will prove successful, and will strengthen family ties.

Sunday
HIV/AIDS is a horrific killer in many communities, infecting the weak and the strong, the young and the old. The disease is now a pandemic and in 2007, an estimated 33.2 million people lived with the disease worldwide, killing an estimated 2.1 million people (including 330,000 children). Over three-quarters of these deaths occurred in sub-Saharan Africa. Please pray that with education and the continued efforts of health and medical workers, that many can be reached before it is too late to save lives. Pray that the stigma that is attached to the infection will be removed so that communities can minster and assist those infected effectively, and that the drugs to combat the disease will be provided at little or no cost to those most in need.
