"It has helped me to teach children through real life experience and it makes me feel great seeing children change from my testimony."

School Life:

I was adopted by my maternal aunt when it came to my school life. She was barren so she decided to raise me. It was the most unspeakable privilege I got to stay with such a loving lady. I saw the importance of God’s salvation in her life and due to fact she never put same pressure on me about becoming a Christian. She sent me to one of the best schools in Kampala for my primary. She put a lot of pressure on me about doing very well in school and getting a good career. Her heart’s desire was that someday l would become a very important person with a good career. She was one of the best accountants in Kampala.

After my high school, my parents had financial crisis so they couldn’t take me to university though l had performed well.

I then joined a teacher’s college and did diploma in Education at one of the Universities in Kampala for two years. During my time in University I was a very sceptical. I even questioned the existence of God.

The following year l went back to the same university to change my profession so l did guidance and counselling for two years.

Who most influenced your life?

During that time at campus I met a very godly lady named Rebecca. She would always talk about the bible and how exciting God’s word was for her. I knew enough about the bible to be ignorant at best. We would talk for hours about Jesus. In Rebecca l saw something l did not have – a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It wasn’t religion, feelings, it was real. And l started wanting it for me.

Why did I join Fields of Life?

I was working with the Love for Life and they were unable to continue the programme in Uganda. Rather than stopping all Love for Life activities, Fields of Life (which is another organisation) wished for the important work with teenagers regarding sexual health and informed choice should continue. As a result, the programme is growing and continues to make a difference in children’s lives here in the youth of Uganda.

How has working for FOL contributed to your life?

Having gone through life’s struggle, my work with the children has helped me heal personal wounds. It has also helped me to teach children through real life experience and it makes me feel great seeing children change from my testimony.

My favourite quote: “The best thing to do when faced with a situation where you feel you can't continue is to stop thinking about it and just force yourself to put one step in front of the other.” God bless
