The Apua Primary School well is located in Aromo sub country in Lira district, North Eastern Uganda where access to water is extremely limited. The nearest water source for this community was a shallow well located 2km away which meant school children had to spend hours walking long distances and queuing to collect water; which wasted valuable school hours. This was also a big challenge to very young children in early primary classes. The water source was also contaminated with many waterborne diseases such as bilharzia, cholera and typhoid which resulted in many within the community falling sick and in some cases dying.
The Apua Primary School well will provide clean, fresh water for 200 school children.
