The Kidongole Central Well is located in Kidongole sub county, located in Bukedea district in Eastern Uganda where people are still forced to drink contaminated water and a number of lives have been lost due to the consumption of dirty water.
Prior to the drilling of the borehole the villagers had to walk 2km to collect water from an open well which was contaminated with many waterborne diseases. It also resulted in villagers wasting valuable hours walking long distances to collect water and doing this arduous task numerous times throughout the day. This task often falls to women and young girls who were at risk of attack while walking these long journeys through remote areas.
This borehole is benefitting 75 households and the surrounding communities, bringing clean water to approximately 700 people.
Thank you to the Young Farmers Club for funding the Kidongole Well.
