Olemai is located in Otuboi sub county in Kaberamaido, Eastern Uganda. The community here previously walked 2km to access water from a borehole in the neighbouring village. This borehole was extremely congested so it would take a very long time to collect water which meant that many hours were lost which could’ve been spent working or in school.
Julius, the Chairperson of the Water User Committee in this community says; “We have been depending on a congested borehole which is 2 km in the nearby village, this meant that the community had to move a distance of 4km to access water and this would not only mean reduced time for the other domestic activities but also it was affecting economic activities of the community members. The new water source has been timely for our community, it will change lives of the community members because they no longer have to walk 4km in the name of looking for water”.
This borehole was the 669th well completed by Fields of Life and now provides clean water to 186 households.
Thank you to the generous donor who has provided this life saving gift!
