Olep is located in the Kaberamaido District in North- Eastern Uganda where many people still believe sharing a water source with animals is a way of life.
The Olep Community have not had the opportunity to access safe, clean water for generations and sadly a number of children have been lost due to the consumption of this dirty water. The community has been walking 1km to access water from an unprotected shallow well and this has caused a lot of water-related problems. However, the community continued to use the dirty water as they did not have any other alternative.
This borehole has been timely for the community, it means they no longer have to walk for water and it will greatly reduce the number of water-related illnesses and deaths. This was the 687th well completed by Fields of Life and it now provides clean water for 130 households.
Thank you to the generous donor who has provided this life saving gift!
