Opir Primary School is located in Agwingiri sub-county in Amolatar District, Northern Uganda.
The school and the community have been depending on a congested borehole which is 2km away, in the nearby trading centre. This 4km journey, to the borehole and back, resulted in many pupils missing valuable hours in schoo and so the performance of the school has suffered and enrollment numbers have decreased. It also put pupils in some dangerous situations because they had to struggle for water and sometimes arguments and fights would begin with the other community members.
This new water source has been very timely for this school and the community. It will change the lives of 315 pupils in the school because they no longer have to walk 4km to collect water.
The Opir Primary School well is the 661st well completed by Fields of Life and we give thanks to the generous donor.
