Ousia is located in Apapai Sub-County, Kaberamaido District in North-Eastern Uganda where consumption of contaminated water is a way of life and a number of children have died due to diseases caused by the consumption of dirty water.
The community had been walking 2km to access water from an open well, this water source did not only serve the local population but it was also shared with animals. This resulted in sickness and death from people contracting water-related diseases. The community had no choice but to live with this dire situation because they did not have any other alternative but to continue using a contaminated water source.
This new borehole was the 684th well drilled by Fields of Life and it has been timely for the Ousia community. The safe drinking water will make a huge impact in their lives because it will provide the 96 households with safe drinking water and much healthier lives with less chance of life-threatening water-borne disease caused by contaminated water.
Thank you to the generous donor who has provided this life saving gift!
