The Amelix Group in Whitstable have been working with one of our supported school, Treasured Kids sited in the slums of Kampala in Uganda for the last 3 years. Their first project was to help connect them to the world with broadband and a computer room. Their next project, Treasured Bakery aims to help modernise their cooking facilities which is currently providing 1 cooked meal per day for hundreds of children. Part of the ambitious plan for the school is to help build a bakery which could provide a sustainable income for the school as well as teaching some of the kids some valuable life skills and transferable skills for the future.
They have a number of fundraising activities planned over the coming months, including a Charity Curry on 22nd November in Canterbury. If you would like to get involved then please contact [email protected] for further details.
The team of volunteers is made up from members of staff at the Amelix Group as well as other volunteers who want to do their bit to improve the lives of hundreds of children living in poverty. They are hoping to visit the school in May 2016 to open the bakery.
Maybe you would like to join the team and help make their vision a reality?
