In January 2018, we were sad to say goodbye to Willie McCartney and Charlene Kennedy from our Newtownards shop. We are so grateful for all of their hard work, dedication and support and we wish them every blessing in this next chapter of their lives.
Please join us in welcoming Stephen McCreight into the Fields of Life family as he takes on the role of Charity Shop Manager in Newtownards. We asked him a few questions so you could get to know him a little bit better.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m 22 years old and I live in Lisburn. I enjoy reading, cycling, mountain walks and travelling.
Q: When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and why?
I have been at various Fields of Life events over the past two or three years, for example: fundraisers at Stranmillis University College and The Storytellers Tour. For me, these were real eye openers into the amazing work that Fields of Life have been involved with in East Africa for the past 25 years. I was a little apprehensive when I first applied for the job but I can honestly say I am so happy that I did and I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be today.
Q: What is your favourite thing about your job?
My job allows me to work with really lovely, genuine and extremely gifted volunteers, the work atmosphere feels like a little community and for me that’s so important. To know that I’ll be going to work and leaving the day with a smile on my face is a real blessing. Ultimately, knowing that the funds we are raising go towards having a positive impact on people’s lives makes coming in to work each day a no brainer.
