Meet Helen Coulter

Helen Coulter is one of our Fields of Life Trekkers, who will be taking on the Kilimanjaro challenge in August 2016.

We asked her a few questions and here’s what she had to say…

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I am married to John, he runs an Electrical, Plumbing & Heating business.

I have a pet Samoyed Dog called Zak, aged 14 and he can no longer climb the mountains!

I worked my entire career with Northern Bank/Danske Bank, as Business and Branch Manager , but retired 3 years ago. Now, I complete John’s Office administration.

Interests & Activities…

Member of Lisburn Rotary Club – Treasurer

Social Car Driver and Trustee – Down Community Transport

Killyleagh Parish Church – Treasurer

Keeping fit – I go to the Gym every morning and I ran my first 10K in Lisburn last June 2015; this was a major achievement, as I had never run before!

I enjoy walking and hiking in the Mournes, especially with Lisburn Walking Group.

Gardening and watching sport, especially Football (Manchester United supporter) and Tennis.

When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and Why?

I was part of a Team that went to Uganda to assist with the FOL build of St Apollo School, in Luwero, in February 2012.

Why did you decide to do the FOL Kili Trip?

It has been an ambition for a number of years. I was just waiting for the right time to go and with the right team!

What are you looking forward to most?

Overcoming all the challenges this Great Mountain presents. Being with a great group of people and as a team making it to the top and back.

What are you least looking forward to?

I am apprehensive about dealing with the altitude and the freezing cold temperatures.

What’s the best advice you’ve received so far?

Have a positive attitude!
