Meet Hope Muzungu, our Communications Officer in East Africa. Hope is from a journalistic background and joined the Fields of Life family in May 2016. We asked Hope a few questions to get to know her a little bit better…
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I am a child of God, a wife to one husband, a mother to three boys. I am a journalist by training, a writer at heart and a teacher by calling.
I love Uganda and after joining Fields of life, I now love Ireland too, for the hitherto unknown work that the Irish are doing to change lives in Uganda.
Tell us a fun fact:
I was born in May, got married in May, joined Fields of Life in May and I must have become a Christian in May.
When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and Why?
Initially, I joined Fields of Life because of the rare opportunity to work part time, which I needed. Now I am willing to prolong my stay at Fields of Life, out of a growing passion for the vision and activities. I look forward to communicating to others the enormous change the organisation is making in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya , DRC and South Sudan, and I am glad to be part of the change team.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Right now, everything; the people, being able to communicate impact, and that I get paid to be part of this.
What’s been the most exciting thing since you started?
Being able to read my Bible on the long commute to work and finding out all that the Irish people are doing to help Uganda.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Growing, Christian, Smiley.
