The Patagonia Plodders set off on 27th February 2016, to trek across the Icefields of Patagonia in South America to raise money for clean water in East Africa.
Judy Bell is one of the team members taking on this challenge, and we thought we’d find out why…
When did you first get involved in Fields of Life and Why?
Getting involved with Fields of Life was inspired by Anita and Amalia, their passion for improving the lives of the villagers in West Africa through water aid. They encourage all Family Business Place members to give 10days to charity, in whatever way they can!
Why did you decide to do the Patagonia Trek?
I joined the trek to Patagonia to make a difference, hopefully my sponsorship will be sufficient to sink a well. I also wanted the challenge, myself physically and mentally.
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to the whole experience, having never done anything like this before, I am really excited. Looking forward to the challenging terrain, and the awesome scenery. I have been training hard, with walking groups who have put me through my paces.
What are you least looking forward to?
I’m least looking forward to the flights across the Atlantic, long haul is not enjoyable!
What’s the best advice you’ve received so far?
The best advice has been prepare well, train hard, but savour every moment of the challenge.
