Tell us a bit about yourself?
I am 26 and I am originally from Holland, Michigan, USA; a beautiful town on the shores of Lake Michigan.
I have a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Non-profit Management, and I have been volunteering and working in the non-profit sector since I was 16, which has led to a strong passion for working with people with special needs.
I fell in love with Ireland, and Europe in general, when I studied abroad in 2009 and I have always wanted to live abroad. I backpacked through Europe on two different occasions and I have seen many amazing places; but my bucket list is massive and seems to be ever growing!
I moved to Ireland in January 2016 and can’t wait to see what this next year has to offer.
Tell us a fun fact?
I was a Dutch dancer for 3 years. I wore a Dutch costume, wooden shoes and danced for thousands of tourists each year during the week of Tulip Time (one of the largest flower festivals in the world). Feel free to google!
My family recently grew from 4 members to 5. My mom is a lawyer and in 2011, we “adopted” one of her clients. He has become a vital part of our family. We are very close and I couldn’t be more excited to have a brother!
When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and why?
I started working with Fields of Life on 7th March 2016.
My networking ventures prior to my departure to Ireland led me to meet John Johnston, a man living in Holland and from Portadown, who has strong connections with FOL. After learning about my interests and past experience, he connected me with Richard and the rest is history. The timing and job opportunity was a perfect fit for me as I am really interested to learn about the non-profit sector in NI/ROI, as well as learning about, and going to Africa.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
The wonderful people that I work with.
What’s been the most exciting thing since you started?
Planning my first event!
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Passionate, Adventurous and Out-going.
