In September we welcomed Katie Laverty back into the Fields of Life head office as our Marketing and Communications Officer…here’s what you need to know about Katie:
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I am 25, I have 3 brothers and I live in Portadown. I studied Communication, Advertising and Marketing at Jordanstown and before starting my post in Fields of Life I worked for 2 and half years as a Graduate Marketing Executive at Coca-Cola Hellenic.
Tell us something fun about yourself?
My fun fact is that I am a triplet!
When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and why?
I first got in involved with Fields of Life in 2010; as part of my university degree I had to complete a placement year and I was very thankful that Fields of Life decided to take me on as Marketing and Communications Assistant. I absolutely loved my placement year with Fields of Life, I learnt so much from my time in the office and I got to travel to Uganda for the first time to see the work first hand. As a result of that, I developed a real passion for charity and I knew I would always be connected to Fields of Life somehow.
I continued to volunteer with Fields of Life after I completed my placement year, and when I heard that there was a position available in the office I was very excited to apply.
I love the ethos and values that underpin everything Fields of Life do, and to actually see how lives are being transformed is incredible! I feel very privileged and thankful to be part of such an amazing organisation and team.
What are you most excited about with this new venture?
I am excited to see what God has in store for Fields of Life and if I can play a small part in that, then that is amazing 🙂
What’s been the most exciting thing since you started?
I had the opportunity to travel to Rwanda for the first time which was a great experience, incredibly humbling and challenging. Rwanda is a beautiful country and the people we met gave us an incredible welcome, the smiles and celebrations we saw at the Fields of Life schools were unforgettable and witnessing the positive impact of those schools was really inspiring.
I also really enjoy digital marketing and since I started I have been working on launching the new Fields of Life website. I am very excited that it is now live and hope you all like it!
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Conscientious, optimistic and caring.
