Yokoyasi Kateu joined Fields of Life at the end of 2012, he works within our Finance department in Kampala, Uganda. Here’s what you need to know about Yokoyasi…
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I am Yokoyasi, I work with Fields of Life as a Finance and Administration Manager.
I am married to Miriam and have 8 children, including twins.
Tell us an interesting fact?
This is about Polar Bears: the world’s largest land predators. If you ate in one meal 30g – 50g of a polar bear’s liver it would be enough to kill a human being.
When did you first get involved with Fields of Life and why?
I got involved in December 2012 when I worked on a placement in the office, but after reading on the website and learning more about Fields of Life, I got interested in the sponsorship program of paying fees for vulnerable children who had lost hope.
What is your favourite thing about your job
I love to see children coming to the office for sponsorship and see them leave with a smile on their faces; and also seeing communities celebrate when they get a borehole for clean water instead of using a spring where the water is dirty.
What has been the most exciting thing since you started?
Finding out in great detail about the different ways we could best address the sponsorship problems, to come up with the best program to serve children.
Having devotions every Monday and sometimes even during our lunch hour, we have faced many hurdles but God has been there for us.
Having sponsored kids on board as employees of Fields of Life is a big impact, it is amazing to see, Glory be to God.
What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
Honest, self driven and hardworking.
