The first Fields of Life primary school in South Sudan is now completely finished, including painting, a real landmark for the organisation!
One defining moment from our 2013 visit was the people singing ‘Our visitors, if you go, remember us’ as we left Onjirima, seven miles from Maridi. Today as we celebrate the completion of phase one, we can sing, ‘We did go, but we never forgot you’, and we did fulfill our promise.
Onjirima Primary School now has four new permanent classrooms, where once they were taught under mango trees, and two sets of four-stance ventilated latrines. All they need now are the desks, which are ordered, then some of the 210 pupils can move into their wonderful new school facility. In the coming months we hope to finish the remaining four classrooms and administration block at Onjirima.
Bishop Justin of Maridi Diocese concludes, “It is a great joy to see the first part of the building completed amidst all the challenges, our endless thanks to all the team members for fulfilling their promise.”
