The Amelix Group have been working with one of our supported schools, Treasured Kids (in the slums of Kampala, Uganda) for the last 3 years. Their first project was to help connect them to the world with broadband and a computer room.
Treasured Bakery, aims to help modernise their cooking facilities which currently provide 1 cooked meal a day for hundreds of children. Part of the plan for the school is to build a bakery to provide a sustainable income for the school. In addition to this it will, teach the kids some valuable life skills and transferable skills for the future.
They have a number of Treasured Bakery fundraising activities planned over the coming months, including a Charity Curry on 22nd November in Canterbury. If you would like to get involved then please contact [email protected] for further details.
The team of volunteers is made up from members of staff at the Amelix Group as well as other volunteers who want to do their bit to improve the lives of hundreds of children living in poverty. They are hoping to visit the school in May 2016 to open the bakery.
Maybe you would like to join the team and help make their vision a reality?
